When I first met Ed and Fiona their sense of adventure was contagious and their free-spirited nature shone a mile off. Fiona spoke excitedly about how they met and her vision for the wedding, with a cool, calm and collected Ed by her side. They were shortly going to move to Australia where Ed was from and were keen to tie the knot with their family and friends in Brighton where they were currently residing just a stone’s throw away from the Brighton Bandstand. They wanted to be near the sea and have candid and natural shots throughout their wedding day.
Brighton Bandstand weddings are very popular amongst couples. The structure stands on the vibrant Brighton seafront near the West Pier. It’s a beautiful and truly unique piece of architecture that was restored in 2009 and has been a popular choice for an intimate place to hold ceremonies near the sea.
The Brighton Bandstand is available to hire for weddings between April and September and ceremonies can take place from Wednesday through till Saturday from 11.30 am -1.30 pm, and from 2.30 pm-4.30 pm. Their rules on decor is limited and you can only use their official Bandstand contractor, but in my opinion this option is great as it’s minimal and lets the bandstand shine for what it is.
If you desire to have a Brighton Bandstand wedding you have to keep in mind that it has a capacity for 50 people seated and 30 standing and in the event of bad weather the Bandstand Cafe which is downstairs can be used, but the capacity there is only for 25 people. You’re looking to pay between £820 – £980 for the pleasure of using this space depending on the day you choose.
To book this space its best to contact the Brighton & Hove City Council.
The weather for Ed & Fiona’s ceremony was on a knife edge with what looked like a storm brewing in the distance. But the rains never came and what we got instead was an intensely moody sky as our backdrop. The guests were dressed in bright vibrant summer colours which popped against the dark skies, and nothing could have been funkier than Fiona’s incredible choice of wedding shoes! The atmosphere was relaxed with a casual drinks reception held at the Seahorse, only a few minutes walk from the Brighton Bandstand, and dinner and dancing at Lost in the Lanes, with a brass band setting the soundtrack for a high energy dance marathon. The day was full of love, laughter, heartfelt speeches and family and friends from near and far.
