Brighton with its beautiful beach, iconic pier, and colourful streets, provides the perfect backdrop for capturing your story and being the perfect spot for your engagement shoot. I’ve done some very stylized shoots on Brighton Beach, but it’s also prefect for a casual stroll down the seafront as you’ll find many photo opportunities.
This is where Emmett & Elliot met, and a stone’s throw away from where Emmett proposed not too long ago on Brighton Beach. These stoney shores hold a special place in these two hearts and are filled with many happy memories. Living together now up North they were down for a visit to Elliot’s hometown Brighton, so we grabbed this opportunity to mark their engagement as we took a trip down memory lane after a much-needed caffeine fix at Flour Pot next to West Pier.
I know how daunting and scary it can be in front of a lens on any occasion, but as the day progressed the couple eased into being in front of the camera. As we moved along the Brighton Beach we got to know each other and the apprehension melted away as the morning flowed and we got into the full swing of the engagement shoot. Ending with me getting a delicious sticky toffee pudding recipe from Elliot which I went on to make that night.
Scattered all down the beach going East from the Pier are many vendors renting out deck chairs, this is a perfect opportunity to chill together and have a break (as Brighton Beach can get very hectic in the summer). Head down early morning to beat the crowds on a sunny day.

Not too far down on Brighton Beach from Palace Pier, you have the beautiful red and yellow horse carousel. The colours are bold and pop out against the skies. Whether you cuddle up next to it or jump on and have a ride together this is a definite must on your engagement shoot.
Near Brighton Fishermans Society you’ll find several old fishing boats that have been placed along the seafront. It’s a great place to frolic around together on your Brighton Beach engagement shoot.
There are many fun and colourful shops down by Brighton Beach and can be fantastic colourful additions to your engagement shoot.
Many staircases lead the way down to Brighton Beach promenade which can be a great spot to take a breather and get close to your partner during your engagement shoot. I particularly love the red wall as a background as it adds a lot of warmth into the photos.
There’s a few walk ramps that lead down to Brighton Beach and all have the iconic blue balustrades that Brighton is famous for. Great for taking a stroll down together whilst gazing out at the sea.
This sculpture’s official name is Afloat, created by the artist Hamish Black in 1998. It was added in to jazz up the seafront but has also become a great place for meet-ups and would be a great location for your engagement shoot. I love how the inner circle frames the subject.
You’ll find it on the groyne just next to the Palace Pier.
There’s a few groynes on Brighton Beach that go out to sea and can be a perfect spot for photos during your engagement shoot. With its beautifully cobbled wall and the Palace Pier in the back, this is an ideal location for some more photos.
You’ll find this bustling aracde on Palace Pier, with it’s bright lights and fun vibes you’ll forget that you’re even in the midst of your engagement shoot!
After you are done in the arcade you can take a walk down on Palace Pier together and get some snacks. Just be weary of the hungry seagulls that aren’t afraid to steal your food!
Brighton Beach is famous for its brightly coloured beach huts, these can be found down towards Hove. There are many other huts and shacks along the way which can also work well in your engagement shoot.
You’re surrounded by sun, sea, pebbles and skies, use them! Nature is a giver and will definitely provide you with her natural beauty.
Life is built up of many small and wonderful occurrences that will go unnoticed, and it gives me great joy to record these.
